HONG KONG CHINESE EMIG ATTON ORDINANCE, 1889.

With further reference to your letter dated November

6th, 1906, on the above named subject, in which it is

stated that the question of the restriction on the carri-

age of Chinese Coolies by British vessels is receiving the

attention of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, I

am directed by the Committee of the East India & China

Trade Section to ask if any modification in the direction

desired has been made in the laws or shipping regulations

of Hong Kong.
